Samsung’s One UI is the hottest thing right now when it comes to the software side of the Samsung phones. Because, well, if you talk hardware, things are admittedly even far exciting as you have the revamped Galaxy S10 in the works, and the mind-boggling Galaxy Flex foldable phone that may be priced so steeply you will start to appreciate the $1000 costing Galaxy Note 9.
The One UI update is available in some markets official as part of the Android Pie beta for Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus handsets now, but no such luck for the Galaxy Note 9 users yet. While the Galaxy Note 9 will definitely receive the Android Pie update directly from Samsung a bit later, the good thing is, you can not install it manually on your device, if you have the model no. SM-N960U with you.

Compatibility
This guide is compatible only with model no. SM-N960U of the Galaxy Note 9. Do not try this on any other variant of the Note 9 (including N960F/N/etc.) as you might end up damaging your device and permanently brick it.
Make appropriate backup all your important data, music and video files, and everything else as there are chances your devices will be wiped while doing this.

How to install Android 9 Pie beta with One UI on your Galaxy Note 9
The are two methods to install the Android 9 Pie update on your Galaxy Note 9. The first one uses ADB, thus requires no additional component. While the second one uses an SD card but makes the installation very easy. So, if you have an SD card or can borrow one temporarily, use the second method as the ADB method is a bit tricky.

Make sure you have software version ARJ7 installed on your Galaxy Note 9. To install ARJ7, do this:
Download the ARJ7 update firmware file from the download section above.
Install it on your Galaxy Note 9 using the installation guide given here.
Once you are Galaxy Note 9 is running software version ARJ7 (check the build no. in Settings > About phone), continue to next step below.
Download the Android Pie beta update file for your device from downloads section above.
Rename it to something convenient, like note-9-pie-beta1.zip, so that it is easy to install it in step 12 below.
Make sure you have installed
ADB and fastboot driver. And Samsung driver.
Enable USB debugging.
→ If OEM unlock is missing on your device, then we really can’t help it — you may not be able to install Android Pie using this method. You would have to wait for Samsung to officially push Pie to your device.
Connect your device to PC now. Check your phone’s screen, if it asks for “Allow USB debugging”, accept it by selecting OK/Yes.
Open a command window on PC in the folder where you have the downloaded the Pie update file.
For this, go to that folder, and then in the address bar, type cmd and hit the enter key. A command window will open with its address being this very folder with Android Pie update file.
Reboot your device into recovery mode. Type this command in the command window and then hit the enter key to run it.
adb reboot recovery
Move the highlight to ‘Apply update from ADB‘ option.
Select the option ‘Apply update from ADB’ using the power button.
Your Galaxy Note 9 will now enter ADB sideload mode.
Install Android 9 Pie beta update by issuing the following command. (If you want, you can shorten the filename as per your convenience and use that filename in the command below.)
adb sideload note-9-pie-beta1.zip
Give it all the time it needs to install. Once done, the device will reboot automatically. Do not disconnect before that happens.
Once your Note 9 reboots, it would be running Android 9 with One UI.

Method #2: Using SDcard
Make sure you have software version ARJ7 installed on your Galaxy Note 9. To install ARJ7, do this:
Download the ARJ7 update firmware file from the download section above.
Install it on your Galaxy Note 9 using the
installation guide given here.
Once you are Galaxy Note 9 is running software version ARJ7 (check the build no. in Settings > About phone), continue to next step below.
Download the Android Pie beta update file for your device from downloads section above.
Rename it to something convenient, like note-9-pie-beta1.zip, so that it is easy to select it in step 8 below.
Transfer it to SDcard on your Note 9.
Now, reboot the device into recovery mode. For this, power off your device, then wait for at least 7 seconds to let the screen turn black and then press and hold the Bixby + Volume Up + Power buttons until you see the blue screen.
Move the highlight to ‘Install update from SDcard‘ option.
Now, select the Install update from SDcard option using the power button.
Select the Android 9 Pie update file you transferred to SDcard earlier now.
Select Yes on the next screen to confirm the installation.
The Android 9 Pie OTA will be installed now. You will be back to recovery’s home screen once done. Select ‘reboot system now’ to restart the phone. And we’re done!
Once your Note 9 reboots, it would be running Android 9 with One UI.
